Thread rolling is a cold forming process that offers significant advantages over material-removing methods such as thread cutting. During rolling, no material is removed. The workpiece is plastically deformed under high pressure between two dies, forming the desired thread shape through deformation.

Safe connections for timber construction
Bolts and fasteners made from threaded round bars are used predominantly in constructions with glued laminated timber, also called glulam. As the threads extend over the complete length of the bolts, these fasteners guarantee safe and durable bonding between the laminated layers. They comply with applicable safety regulations stipulating that glulams have to be fastened with full-thread bolts under all circumstances.
The technology
The rolling unit of the BBW thread rolling machine is equipped with wide-jaw dies in the sizes WF #40, WF #50, TR6, or TR7.
The upper die is mounted in the movable slide of the machine, while the lower die is positioned in a vertically adjustable die holder. A hydraulic clamping system with two parallel cylinders ensures secure positioning of the dies during operation.
The space-saving design of our machine is achieved, among other things, by integrating the entire drive system above the machine.
A self-locking worm gear integrated into the clutch-brake system enables smooth die adjustment even at low speed. This allows the operator to align the dies precisely while the machine runs in creep mode.
The robust O-frame construction of the machine can withstand axial forces of up to 100 tons during the rolling process.
This structural stability ensures uniform deformation of the material and guarantees precise thread geometry.
